Export permit
When exporting historical coins and medals outside the European Union, Czech legislation requires an export permit. This obligation arises from Act No. 71/1994 Coll., on the Sale and Export of Objects of Cultural Value, and Act No. 122/2000 Coll., on the Protection of Museum Collections. An export permit is required for all coins older than 50 years, regardless of their market value. Exporting such items without a permit is illegal and may result in issues during customs clearance, including the risk of shipment being held or fines imposed.
We take care of the entire process for you — from preparing the necessary documentation to submitting the application to the Ministry of Culture and monitoring its progress. The administrative fee is 500 CZK (approximately 20 EUR) per application (per item). By law, the ministry has up to 30 days to process the request, but in practice, the permit is often issued within just two weeks. This ensures your purchase can leave the Czech Republic legally and without complications.
